Centralised Price Administration
and Competitor Price System (CPS)

Would you like to win in a competitive fuel pricing market place?

Working with fuel distribution and retailing companies we've identified an opportunity to improve the process of managing fuel prices, particularly in cases when many service stations and competitor sites are involved. As a result our CPS solution was developed and implemented. Competitor prices often change several times a day. If the service stations are slow to respond, they set to lose in volume of sales, in setting the optimum profit margin and ultimately in the level of revenue.

CPS is automating the entire price management business process, helping achieve the desired outcomes instantaneously. The benefits come from:

  • Reducing or eliminating the need for human interactions to achieve the desired price changes.
  • Significantly reducing the costs associated with price change administration.
  • Eliminating or dramatically reducing the errors affecting price movements.
  • Developing great "sensitivity  to competitor price changes and achieving a high level of responsiveness.
  • Effectively implementing and enforcing the price change policies specified by retailers.
  • Providing "birds eye" view of the entire business fuel pricing positions in relation to competitor sites.
  • Allowing management staff to make fast and well informed decisions in respect of price setting.
  • Keeping track of price changes, no matter how many changes, where made, how and by whom.
  • Collecting and effectively processing market intelligence data affecting the sites and their competitor clusters.
  • Effectively grouping sites, analyzing, extracting and exporting data as required.

How it works?

Market intelligence data is electronically captured at desired time intervals or on ad hoc basis (via competitor price files input, web site entries, POS terminals and/or other mobile data entry devices) This data is constantly evaluated and compared with own site prices, allowing price changes by one of the following methods:

This data is constantly evaluated and compared with own site prices, allowing price changes by one of the following methods:

  • Executing price administrator requests (sending electronic requests to site managers and receiving electronic price change confirmations).
  • Executing administrator requests automatically.
  • Executing price changes automatically based on the predefined business rules.

The system maintains control, ensuring that business rules are adhered to (e.g. maintaining positive profit margin, required competitor price differential, price change execution time targets and managing escalation process in case the desired time targets are missed).

Where required (and where the site's technical environment allows), the system provides automated price setting on fuel pumps and electronic price boards.

The system maintains sites geo-positioning data and, using a mapping facility and color coding allows a "birds eye" view of the pricing information affecting the company and its competitors.
